Rations. Both a lovely word and yet also so threatening. Wars have seen it. Nations have experienced it. But it has behind it the concept of want, of need, or shortages in our food supply. And even beyond that it speaks of hunger. Children crying, thin and wan from lack of food.

How can I shake one up who is well fed? How can you be stirred when you’ve seen a thousand commercials on giving to the hungry? Do you think it will never touch you or come near your dwelling? If so then you are a fool for the sound of hunger is closer then you think. Once the food supply begins to be cut off then and only then will you say where is my Mcdonalds, my Arby’s, my steak houses?

So how can we prepare? There is only one way. That is by seeing the danger coming and storing up for it. Now some Christians do not believe in preparation but live day by day. That is their choice but one thing they forget. We are living in the last days and the Bible says that one billion of us will be martyred and die. Not all may have their heads cut off. Perhaps some may die of starvation simply because they did not prepare, see nor believe that they could suffer.

Revelation 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred [and] threescore days.

Revelation speaks of the woman who is sent into the wilderness where a place is prepared for her by God to be fed. As I have learned it is often men whom God uses to prepare the way. For example Joseph was sent to Egypt so that he could prepare the way for his family so they would not starve.

Do not think for a moment that America will not suffer and know need and hunger. She is already spiritually bankrupt in so many ways that now she is beginning to feel the first signs of hunger. Personally I believe it is too late for her to wake up. I don’t hear Christians speaking up loud enough. They go to churches that emotionally satisfy but do not spiritually satisfy. As the result America has grown fat and lazy and has no need of anything.

The end result is the word rations is getting closer then ever to become a common word in our vocabulary. Rations. Get used to it. Listen to it. You shall become familiar with its sound and familiar with its taste. The day will come when you shall both love it and hate it. Its coming. Are you ready for it? Are you ready for hunger? Its coming.

If you are relying on others to supply you with rations are you prepared to wait? Are you going to trust in the government? In the military? On your neighbours? Who will you blame when you go to bed hungry? Who will feed your children?

So what can you do? You’d better start praying and asking God for wisdom and to keep you in the coming days lest you find yourself boiling your leather shoes for a midnight snack!
