Challenging the Status Quo in Government

by Joel Akin

Scientific curiosity is like a man who floats on salt water. He can jump in and sink but it always floats back up to the top. We often think of Government as the cure all when it reality it is the float all. The float all is the part that surfaces in our lives again and again telling us what the reality is for the world around us. Its true deeply salted lakes need few fish. Perhaps a few brine shrimp, some tadpoles on the edges, a few microorganisms in the briny soup. Its a legacy of most seas that they collate into a great cosmopolitan mix of creatures each playing a key role. Not for government. It is the head, the middle and the bottom of our society. It is everywhere and into everything. Yet one thing it doesn't touch very often is the bottom portions of the salt lake. There are reasons for this. Most would say its a worthless lake. Doesn't hold much value. You really can't say it doesn't hold much salt because it does. But no one wants to stay there. No one wants to live there. No one wants to spend an eternity drinking salt water unfit for drinking.

Life takes the body and floats it to the top. So Government forms at the top and is meant to spread all the way to the bottom. But does it? Sure if it stands on its feet it does. If it stands on its feet then it becomes firmly planted in American Soil. If it becomes firmly planted then you can be sure there is something you can walk on. You're own two feet. Yet why is it that I get the impression much of America is content to lie back and just float and let its head float comfortably upon layers of salt water? Perhaps the main reason is comfort. We like comfort and everyone of our parts likes it as well.

In America as it is in much of the world there is a desire to end the day with comfort. But I still have a problem with the comfort levels which keep us at status quo levels. These are levels where life is good enough. Where housing is good enough. Where appliances and lighting and stonework and more is good enough. But its time to find out what the head is doing that seems to be preventing the body from touching base with the rest of us. In other words I want to know why there is little to nothing on Earth Sheltered Housing or its Agenda in Washington. I've been building this web site since 1998 and have searched every conceivable link to earth sheltered and government. That which is owned by the government is hidden away underground in caves, secret installations, behind barbed wire and more. There is an embarrassing lack of information on structural studies related to earth sheltered homes. Why is it that there is no one in Washington doing anything seriously about it? I get visits from the Government and especially the military all the time. Direct official type visits from Redstone, NASA, Pentagon and even near Area 51. Even yesterday House 10 from the House of Representatives stopped by. But in reality none of them seem to understand the importance of making a mention to us on how we can change things here in America and then around the world. Should I ask why I can't find any reference to a study done for congress or for anyone in Washington on how to build various styles of homes built on the Earth Sheltered style? Are there reasons for this beyond ignorance? Which is acceptable I guess in most circumstance. After all I like the idea of floating in Salt Lake. I like the idea of taking a break from writing and putting down ideas and dreaming of things that are/were and will be. I can write about nearly anything but true change begins with you. I'm doing what I can and plan to continue this web site. Perhaps there is someone in Washington that will forgive me and send a note sharing their ideas with me. It might help us understand the importance of rising up from the depths and putting on our thinking cap and getting motivated to start building.
